A depleted Arnold Town took on league newbies Basford at Eagle Valley. A tight first half saw Basford rack up a 2-0 lead through Jason Talbot and Henry Burton before the home side pulled one back almost on the stroke of half time courtesy of Angelo Georgiou. Basford were unable to break Arnold down in the second half, thanks to strong defending from a tiring Arnold back four and heroic keeping by Matt Gomersall. At the other end, Arnold couldn’t convert chances to equalize and Basford will consider themselves fortunate. 2-1 at the end after a goalless second half.
